NEGATIVE x POSITIVE = POSITIVE, Stop AIDS, Keep the promise

World AIDS day is observed on December 1, each year, which is aimed at raising awareness & prevent spread of HIV infection. This year focus is on 'leadership' for the theme 'Stop AIDS, Keep the promise'. Usually we are asked to 'be positive' but, in the context of HIV we feel blessed being negative. Also, arithmetic teaches us that product of a NEGATIVE and a POSITIVE entity results in NEGATIVE but, HIV proves it wrong.

After iPod, i-pill is the latest sensation among Indian youth and is misinterpreted as an alternative to condoms. I hope the animation above (courtesy: Webchutney virals) might act as an eye opener. Do you remember the earlier ads of condom on DD1! giving emphasis on not to indulge in a physical relationship outside your marriage and the later ads, which became quite liberal and the message was "at least use condoms...".

@anonymous,
This is a very sensitive issue apart from using condoms.
I remember once I went to CMC when I was studying in Vellore for blood test for typhoid, malaria detection coz of having a seasonal fever,
There in the queue right behind me...someone asked me that doctor has asked him to do these tests and he was not aware of what it is? coz he was illiterate & having financial problem too.

His prescription recommends, ELISA test for HIV.

I told him not to worry, it's just a simple blood test. I don't know what happened to him, but have you ever encountered any such incident in your life?

The only way is to spread awareness about it, and since this year's theme focuses on 'leadership' I am doing so by blogging it....!

Rupesh in India.if a doctor advice for HIV test.The guy will get a heart attack. Giving blood for test does not mean that u have AIDS.
Now we must also have to make mandatory to take test before marriage.what u think.
Have u seen the documentry in NDTV
about AIDS..
In news some days back.one guy has done blood test from THYROCARE ( a big testing lab)in report they showed him positive..the guy had tried committing suicide after that..when he done again test from other lab they showed him he was negative..The guy got compensation from court.

@anonymous,
Even infected with HIV doesn't mean you have AIDS. You asked to make mandatory to take test before marriage. OK, I agree but what if one fails the test. How will they be informed? What will happen to their relationship? How to handle the situation?
It's again a sensitive issue & actually there are so many dimensions of this problem that it asks us to re-think...

I remember a TV show where 'Smriti Irani' from 'Kyunki Saas...' was anchor... In an episode the guest was a HIV patient who got infected after marrying (knowingly that she has AIDS) the girl.
When Smriti asked him.. you did it even after knowing all these...? audience laughed at him... He replied... yes.. becoz I loved her (She was no more by the time the prog was telecasted) and still do....
